Shanghai plans to roll out autonomous driving technology for taxis in an orderly manner

Shanghai has unveiled the draft regulations on taxis for public feedback.

The draft supports the safe adoption of autonomous driving in the taxi sector under legal rules, with transport and public security authorities offering regulatory guidance and services.

It also calls for wider use of big data, blockchain and AI to build more use cases and digitalize taxi services and governance.

The city will push the industry’s green low-carbon shift and back innovative applications of new technologies, new energy solutions and new equipment.
