An aerial view shows the 1-gigawatt photovoltaic desertification control project in Minfeng county, Hotan prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. Built in the Gobi Desert along the southern edge of the Taklimakan Desert, the project has been fully connected to the power grid, delivering both clean energy output and desert restoration benefits. The project will supply 1.9 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in its first operational year, said China Railway 23rd Bureau Group, which takes part in the construction of the project.
