CRCC delivers hundreds of prefabricated housing units to quake-hit Drachen county
China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC) has demonstrated a swift and organized response following Thursday's magnitude-7.0 earthquake in Drachen county, Xizang autonomous region.
After the disaster, CRCC's Party committee established an emergency task force to coordinate and expedite relief operations. They immediately began transporting prefabricated housing units from cities such as Lhasa and Xining to the affected areas.
As of Monday, a total of 409 prefabricated housing units have been delivered to Gangchen township in Drachen, covering five affected villages and eight disaster-stricken sites. Installation teams are working around the clock to expedite the assembly of these units and provide a warm and secure refuge for those displaced by the earthquake.
By Monday afternoon, 241 units had been installed, with two of the affected villages fully equipped with temporary housing. The remaining 157 units are being installed with urgency and are expected to be completed by Wednesday.
In addition to housing, China Railway 12th Bureau Group, a subsidiary of CRCC, has donated 100 quilts and 100 coats, which have been delivered to the Gangchen township government. Furthermore, 50 prefabricated housing units donated by the subsidiary were fully installed at a settlement site in Gangchen township by Sunday evening.
Wang Wei, the on-site coordinator from 12th Bureau Group, emphasized the company's dedication to aiding the disaster-stricken region.
"Our roots trace back to the railway soldiers, and we are committed to upholding their spirit," Wang said. "Despite the harsh, high-altitude environment, we aim to ensure that those affected can move into warm shelters as soon as possible."
CRCC's rapid and efficient response highlights the speed and capability of central enterprises in disaster relief and reflects a deep-seated commitment to supporting communities in times of need.
