PM demands action over Marine's arrest
Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi registered a protest with the United States on Sunday after a US Marine was arrested on suspicion of robbing and murdering a woman in Okinawa. Devin Ballard, 20, is suspected of killing Anna Yagi, 39, in a hotel in Naha, the capital of the southernmost prefecture, on Saturday and taking her wallet and backpack, police said. Ballard denied the allegations, police said. "The government of Japan strongly protests to the US side and strongly seeks maximum cooperation with the investigation", as well as the tightening of discipline and thorough measures to prevent a recurrence, Takaichi said.

Intelligence chief to head new AI task force
US President Donald Trump on Sunday named national intelligence chief Jay Clayton as leader of a White House task force on artificial intelligence, amid increasingly vocal warnings from researchers about the technology's potential dangers. The Super Intelligence Force, led by Clayton, is "tasked with coordinating the effort of the federal government to ensure that America continues to lead the world in super intelligence, which many say is bigger than the Industrial Revolution, and the internet, and will protect the interests, and improve the lives, of all Americans", Trump wrote on social media.
