On Sept 17, at China Daily's Vision China event in London, young Chinese soprano Yan Zhaoyi, a performer in River Moon and Summer's Day: A Dialogue Across a Millennium, said that in a rapidly changing world, Chinese musicians need to keep embracing new elements as they carry forward traditions and create music of their own. For her and a younger generation of Chinese musicians, an important direction they are exploring is how to preserve the classics while finding innovative ways to connect Chinese music with the world.
