Former Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte appears publicly in ICC for 1st time

THE HAGUE -- Former Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte appeared publicly in the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague for the first time on Wednesday for a pre-trial hearing.

The ICC decided in May to schedule the opening of the trial against the former president on Nov 30. Before the start of the trial, Trial Chamber III of the ICC will address all pending matters and adopt procedures necessary to ensure the fair and expeditious conduct of the proceedings.
