Xiaomi adds new consumer tech and SUV models to its ecosystem

Xiaomi rolled out a sweeping lineup of self-developed technologies now entering mass production on Monday night — including its in-house Xring O3 processor, the latest iteration of its HyperOS operating system, and an on-device large language model.

The event also marked the commercial debut of four new SUV models under the SkyNomad series, a key step in Xiaomi's "Human, Car and Home" ecosystem strategy.

The move came as Xiaomi's cumulative electric vehicle deliveries surpassed 800,000 units, the company said in a statement.

The highlight of the consumer electronics segment was the mass production of the Xring O3 processor. The chip is one of three self-developed processors in the Xring family. The remaining two — an AI accelerator and an autonomous driving chip — are expected to enter commercial use next year.

With this, Xiaomi has become one of the few global tech companies simultaneously advancing in-house development of mobile SoCs, AI accelerators, and autonomous driving chips.

Lei Jun, Xiaomi's founder, chairman, and CEO, said at the event that chip development is a race of catching up. "As long as you start chasing, you're on the path to winning," he said.

He disclosed that Xiaomi has invested 21 billion yuan ($3.1 billion) in chip R&D to date as part of a 10-year, 50-billion-yuan roadmap. The company has invested 105.5 billion yuan in core technologies over the past five years, according to publicly available data from Xiaomi. The company's previous-generation Xring O1 chip has surpassed 1 million shipments.

Xiaomi has also built three smart factories covering smartphones, automobiles, and home appliances to support the translation of self-developed technologies into consumer products, the company said.
