Distant-water fishing vessels depart in an orderly manner from the Shawo Island fishery base in Rongcheng, Shandong province, on Monday. Around 100 such vessels are expected to embark on journeys to the Atlantic and Indian oceans, marking a record high in outbound fishing operations this year. Sixteen vessels will target squid in the Atlantic Ocean and return in two years, while over 80 vessels head to the Indian Ocean for squid and tuna, and are expected back by June next year.
