Guangdong-Indonesia cooperation potential highlighted at 'Go Guangdong, Go Global' salon
Participants at the Indonesia session of the "Go Guangdong, Go Global" Salon in Guangzhou on Tuesday saw immense potential for cooperation between Guangdong province and Indonesia.
According to Ma Wenfeng, director-general of the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong, the province's complete, high-end manufacturing system and Indonesia's large and growing market, created by its economic development, present massive opportunities for cooperation.
Ma cited Guangdong's position as China's leading manufacturer. The province has all 31 official manufacturing categories and is home to 10 industrial clusters that each generate 1 trillion yuan ($148.32 billion) in annual revenue, he said.
That economic strength already massively contributes to economic and trade ties between the province and the island nation. Bilateral trade accounts for one-sixth of that between China and Indonesia, Ma said.
Andalusia Tribuana Tungga Dewi, acting consul general of Indonesia in Guangzhou, called the province a "fine partner" that contributes greatly to trade, investment, and technology exchange. "Guangdong's advanced manufacturing base and technological expertise align closely with Indonesia's ambitions to upgrade its industrial capacity, accelerate its energy transition, and strengthen its downstream line industry sector.
"By combining Guangdong's innovation and capital with Indonesia's resources, market size, and young workforce, we have a real opportunity to build supply chains that are not only closer but smarter and greener, benefiting both of the economies for years to come," she said.
Rizaldi Indra Janu, director of the Indonesia Investment Promotion Center in Beijing, used the platform to brief the audience on the latest Indonesian foreign investment policies, investment opportunities in new energy and manufacturing, and official government-to-business matchmaking channels.
Representatives from Indonesia BTR New Energy Material and TCL Technology Group shared their experiences in investment and operation in the Southeast Asian country.
