China expresses condolences for Indonesia quake victims, pledges assistance

China on Monday expressed condolences over casualties from the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Indonesia and said it is ready to provide assistance based on Indonesia's needs.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian made the remarks at a regular news briefing following the earthquake on Saturday.
"We expressed deep condolences over the deaths and sincere sympathies to the bereaved families and the injured," Lin said. "China is willing to provide assistance according to the needs of the Indonesian side."
