Fiery reds, deep blues, lush greens, and radiant yellows fill the paintings of Zhang Huaicun, where cottages sit beneath swirling skies, gardens glow in sunlight, and figures reach for one another in warm embraces.

The 53-year-old artist's "Home, Sweet Home" exhibition, organized by the Royal Society of British Artists, closed on Friday at Mall Galleries in central London, near Buckingham Palace, alongside a cultural and tourism promotion of Qinghai, a high-altitude province on the northeastern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in western China that is known for its vast grasslands, lakes, and mountain landscapes.

Zhang Huaicun, a British-Chinese artist, poet, and children's author and a lifetime fellow of the Royal Society of British Artists, lived in Guangzhou and Hong Kong before settling in London and her work continues to draw on the landscapes and memories of her childhood in Qinghai.
