China Eastern allows free refunds or changes 14 days in advance on domestic routes
Passengers traveling with China Eastern Air Holding Co Ltd are allowed to request refunds or make changes to domestic flight tickets free of charge up to 14 days in advance, according to the Shanghai-based carrier.
For all domestic flights purchased on or after August 6, regardless of class, passengers can request changes or refunds for their tickets up to 14 days before departure, Xinhua News Agency reported, citing a source from China Eastern.
The latest regulation on ticket refunds and changes also defines the 14-day period as 336 hours before scheduled departure, adding that changes or refunds will be processed in accordance with notifications published on China Eastern's official website.
The move came amid recent discussions over the high cost of ticket refunds, and it will make China Eastern the first Chinese airline to shorten the free refund and change period to 14 days for all tickets, departing from an industry convention of 30 days, reported the Beijing News.
