Air China will launch a passenger service connecting Beijing with Bucharest, Romania, and Zagreb, Croatia, on Sept 4, expanding its network in Central and Eastern Europe, the airline said on Tuesday.

The new route will operate from Beijing Capital International Airport every Monday, Wednesday and Friday under flight numbers CA913 and CA914. Zagreb will be served via Bucharest, offering travelers a new one-stop connection between the Chinese and Croatian capitals.

The airline said the route would offer more travel options between China and Central and Eastern Europe while supporting expanding business, tourism and people-to-people exchanges with the region.

Bucharest, Romania's capital and its main political and economic center, is one of the largest cities in the Balkans. Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, is a major cultural and tourism destination in Central Europe.

Air China, China's national flag carrier, currently serves 27 destinations in Europe and operates nearly 260 flights between China and Europe each week, according to the airline.
