Breaking: China suspends US role in follow-up inspections for mandatory product certification

China has suspended the use of US-based certification bodies to carry out follow-up factory inspections for products holding China's mandatory product certification, the country's market regulator said on Wednesday.

The move came as foreign media reported on Tuesday that the Trump administration was drafting a ban on US imports of new models of Chinese data center components.

The State Administration for Market Regulation said it would suspend Chinese-designated certification bodies from entrusting certification institutions in the United States to conduct post-certification factory inspections under China's Compulsory Certification system.

Under China's CCC regime, a wide range of products, including electrical appliances, automotive components and electronic equipment, must obtain mandatory certification before they can be sold in the Chinese market.

Manufacturers are also subject to periodic factory inspections after certification to ensure continued compliance with Chinese safety and quality standards.
