The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology officially inaugurated the quantum information standardization technical committee at a founding conference in Beijing on Thursday, marking a significant step in China's push to establish standards for the burgeoning quantum industry.

Ke Jixin, Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology, attended the conference and delivered a speech. The event was also attended by officials from relevant MIIT departments, committee member representatives, and industry experts.

The establishment of the committee is a key move in implementing the central government's strategic decisions on accelerating the cultivation of future industries.

The committee is tasked with formulating and revising industry standards in areas including fundamental and generic technologies of quantum information, quantum computing, quantum communication, and quantum precision measurement. The secretariat of the committee is housed at the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology.

Quantum technology is widely regarded as a core component of next-generation information technology and a critical frontier in global technological innovation and industrial transformation. The establishment of the dedicated standardization body underscores China's commitment to seizing the opportunities presented by the quantum revolution and securing a competitive edge in this strategically important field.
