Domestic mobile phone shipments down

The China Academy of Information and Communications Technology said domestic mobile phone shipments reached 19.149 million units in June, a year-on-year drop of 15.3 percent. Among them, 5G mobile phones accounted for 16.201 million units, declining 12.1 percent and making up 84.6 percent of all mobile phone shipments for the month. From January to June, total domestic mobile phone shipments stood at 133 million units, falling 5.5 percent.

Railway track swelling prevention targeted

Chinese railway operators are paying close attention to bolstering safety amid high temperatures to safeguard safe rail transport. As persistent high temperatures hit many areas in Shanxi province, Taiyuan High-speed Railway Engineering Section has implemented multiple measures to prevent rail track swelling, ensuring safety for the HSR during the summer. Special checks for track swelling were organized, while stress relief was conducted on sections where rail temperatures were extremely high. A "dynamic inspection + foot patrol" system was established for monitoring safety. Additionally, controls over track maintenance operations were also strengthened.
