Jiang Xue: Large specialized AI models are transforming healthcare services
Jiang Xue, deputy secretary of the CPC committee of Peking University Third Hospital, shared his insights in an interview on the sidelines of the 2026 World Internet Conference Digital Silk Road Development Forum. He emphasized that the development of large specialized AI models are transforming the way people seek medical services.
When patients want to learn about health information, they can instantly get professional answers with the support of AI models — which in turn enables them to carry out more effective communication with doctors. To some extent, this new medical consultation model substantially narrows the information gap existing in the traditional model, according to Jiang.
He also highlighted that with the adoption of AI models, the overall efficiency of medical consultations can be greatly improved and the existing doctor-patient relationship and the traditional medical consultation model will be reshaped.
