Chongqing water park offers mahjong in the pool to beat heat wave

As temperatures soar, Meixin Wine Town in Chongqing's Fuling district is offering a novel way to beat the heat with games of mahjong inside a swimming pool.

The southwestern municipality has been grappling with extreme heat. Last week, the local meteorological bureau issued the first red alert for high temperatures this summer.

In response, Meixin's water park has introduced a five-day pass for unlimited entry. Mindful of the heat-safety advisories, the scenic area encourages visitors to use the indoor facilities, including the visitor center and shopping areas, during the day and play in the water during the evening.

For nearly a decade, this innovative spot has been a hub for water-based leisure activities, featuring attractions such as mahjong, chess, and poker.
