China said on Friday that there are no winners in tariff wars, following the United States' announcement of a new round of unilateral tariffs on Brazilian products.

It's reported that the US move was based on findings from a Section 301 investigation, which included an allegation that Brazil's electronic payment system, known as Pix, puts US companies at a disadvantage.

Asked to comment on the move, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a regular news conference that tariff wars serve no party's interests.

China stands ready to work with Brazil and other countries to jointly uphold the multilateral trading system with the World Trade Organization at its core and safeguard international fairness and justice, Lin said.
