China urges US to revoke discriminatory visa policy against Chinese journalists
China urged the United States on Friday to immediately revoke its discriminatory visa policy against Chinese journalists, after the Trump administration said it would shorten the period foreign journalists are allowed to stay in the country, a move that could affect Chinese reporters.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a regular news conference that US restrictions on people-to-people exchanges serve neither side's interests.
China firmly opposes discriminatory measures adopted by the US against specific countries, Lin said.
He called on the US to immediately rescind its discriminatory policy targeting Chinese journalists and take concrete steps to protect their legitimate rights and interests in the country.
China reserves the right to take reciprocal countermeasures, Lin added.
