NEVs close to half of new registrations
New energy vehicles accounted for 49.42 percent of all newly registered automobiles in China in the first half, up 4.45 percentage points from the same period last year, according to data released by the Ministry of Public Security. From January to June, traffic authorities under the ministry registered more than 5.19 million NEVs and 10.51 million automobiles in total, as well as 5.11 million motorbikes, the ministry said.
Yuan strengthens against greenback
The central parity rate of the yuan strengthened 80 pips to 6.791 against the US dollar on Wednesday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System. In China's spot foreign exchange market, the yuan is allowed to rise or fall by 2 percent from the central parity rate each trading day. The central parity rate of the yuan against the US dollar is based on a weighted average of prices offered by market makers.
