UK consul general urges British youth to learn Chinese, build bilateral ties
They said they are very much looking forward to experiencing real Chinese life firsthand, making Chinese friends through the summer camp and returning home with unique memories of Shanghai.
Launched in 2016 and funded by the UK Department for Education, the MEP aims to cultivate outstanding Chinese-language talent among British students. The program is implemented by the UCL Institute of Education and the British Council, with support from CLEC under the Chinese Ministry of Education, and includes both local Chinese teaching in the UK and immersive study tours in China.
This summer camp also represents a significant practice of SUFE’s international Chinese language education. SUFE says it will continue to deepen cooperation with the British Council and UK schools, expand channels for international Chinese language education exchanges, and use language mutual understanding to reinforce the foundation of youth friendship between China and the UK, contributing to sustained and fruitful exchanges between Chinese and global civilizations.
