The Shanghai chapter of the VACAT (Vision Arts Created by AI Technology) Awards will be based at the venue in an effort to foster a new generation of AI-powered creative talent.
"The opening of the Shanghai Animation Space marks a major step in safeguarding China's animation heritage while building a comprehensive industrial ecosystem," Wang said.
"It arrives at a pivotal moment as we approach the 70th anniversary of SAFS next year."
