FM Wang Yi to pay 3-day visit to Mongolia

Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit Mongolia from Saturday to Monday, the Foreign Ministry said on Thursday. At a news briefing, ministry spokesman Lin Jian said Wang will meet Mongolian leaders and hold talks with his counterpart, Batmunkh Battsetseg. The two sides will exchange views on bilateral ties, practical cooperation, and international and regional issues of mutual interest, Lin said. "China and Mongolia are friendly neighbors linked by mountains and rivers," he said. "Under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Mongolia relations have maintained sound momentum."

Beijing issues sanctions on Philippine minister

China announced sanctions on Thursday against Philippine Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr and his relatives because of his repeated irresponsible remarks. China has decided to prohibit Teodoro and his spouse and child from entering the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao, the Foreign Ministry said. It will also not allow organizations and individuals in China to engage in any transaction, cooperation or other activities with him and his spouse and child. Teodoro repeatedly made irresponsible remarks on China, which undermines China's legitimate interests and sabotages China-Philippines relations, the ministry said.
