TEHRAN -- Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf vowed on Sunday to "halt the negotiation process" and "engage in direct confrontation with the enemy" if Israeli attacks against Lebanon continue.

US naval blockade and its "green light today" to Israel regarding Lebanon turn US and Israeli "bases and assets in the region into legitimate targets," Ghalibaf wrote on social media platform X.

Earlier in the day, Lebanon's National News Agency reported that Israel launched a fresh airstrike on Beirut's southern suburbs, killing at least two people and injuring 11 others.
