China condemns terrorist attack in Pakistan

China has strongly condemned a terrorist attack on a passenger train in Pakistan that caused heavy casualties.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said at a daily news briefing on Monday that China expresses deep condolences for the victims and extends its sincere sympathies to the injured and the bereaved families.

"China firmly opposes terrorism in all forms and will continue to firmly support Pakistan in its efforts to combat terrorism, maintain social solidarity and stability, and protect the safety of its people," she said.

The spokeswoman added that China is ready to further strengthen counter-terrorism cooperation with Pakistan to jointly safeguard peace and stability in the region.
