Artisans from across Hebei gather for woodblock contest

The woodblock painting category attracted 17 contestants to Hengshui, eight contestants advancing to the finals after evaluation by judges.
"I have been engaged in woodblock painting creation for over 40 years. My work blends traditional auspicious patterns with the natural beauty of Hengshui Lake," said Wang Chao, a municipal-level inheritor of Wuqiang woodblock painting.
"We must preserve the roots of our old craft while keeping up with modern aesthetics, so that woodblock painting can be appreciated in daily life."
Liu Gen, a contestant from Handan, said the competition provides a great platform for exchange.
