FM to visit Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar

Foreign Minister Wang Yi will begin a five-day visit to Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar on Wednesday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun announced on Tuesday. China hopes to use the trip as an opportunity to deepen comprehensive strategic cooperation with the three countries, deliver greater benefits to their peoples, and make greater contributions to regional peace, stability, development and prosperity, Guo told a daily news briefing. During his visit to Cambodia, Wang — along with Defense Minister Dong Jun — will attend the first meeting of the China-Cambodia 2+2 strategic dialogue mechanism between foreign and defense ministers, Guo said. Wang will also meet with Cambodian leaders.

Labor secretary to step down amid scandals

US Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer said on Monday she will step down from the role, departing after a tenure beset by a series of scandals. Her exit caps weeks of speculation about her future and follows the back-to-back ousting of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Attorney General Pam Bondi. In an earlier post announcing her departure, White House communications director Steven Cheung praised the "phenomenal job". She was supported by more than a dozen Democrats in her confirmation but had been facing calls to resign over accusations that she and her aides were sending personal messages and requests to young staff members.
