MOSCOW -- Moscow has issued a warning to the Baltic states following reports of their intention to open their airspace to Ukrainian drones attacking Russia, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told RIA Novosti on Monday.

"Russia issued a special warning to the Baltic states regarding their decision to open their skies for the passage of Ukrainian UAVs during attacks on the Russian Federation," she said.

She added that if the Baltic states ignore Russia's warning and proceed with such action, they would face retaliatory measures.

Information about the official opening of the airspace of Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia to Ukrainian drones was reported on March 26 via the Telegram channel Mash.

However, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, Estonian Interior Minister Igor Taro and the Latvian Defense Ministry have all denied the claims.
