Jing'an district leads Shanghai's debut economy
From 2019 to 2024, Jing'an introduced 1,186 first stores, including 21 global- and 17 Asia-first stores. In 2025, 238 new first stores were added, averaging about five per week, ranking first citywide. Over 200 high-level first-launch events showcased top international and local brands, achieving dual social and economic benefits.
Zhangyuan, the event's launch site, is a core landmark of Jing'an's debut economy, featuring a high-level first-store matrix and first-launch activity ecosystem.
Zhang Hong, deputy general manager of Shanghai Jing'an Urban Regeneration Construction and Development Co Ltd, highlighted the 90 percent brand occupancy rate in Zhangyuan's west area, with nine global and Asia-first stores such as the Louis Vuitton Objets Nomades global first store, the Sisley House Asian first store, and the Michelin-starred French restaurant Ortensia.
Zhang added that Zhangyuan will introduce the MUJI Zhangyuan experience store and host events like the F1 Chinese Grand Prix and Chinese Super League at the "second venue" on North Maoming Road.
