Top legislator meets with leaders from Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan
China's top legislator Zhao Leji met separately with Sahiba Gafarova, speaker of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan, and Roman Sklyar, first deputy prime minister of Kazakhstan, in Boao, Hainan province, on Wednesday, highlighting Beijing's readiness to scale up cooperation with the two nations.
During the meeting with Gafarova, Zhao, chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, urged joint efforts to carry forward the tradition of mutual support and expand space for win-win cooperation, while calling for stronger collaboration in trade and investment, enhanced connectivity and closer people-to-people exchanges. Gafarova reaffirmed Azerbaijan's firm adherence to the one-China principle and its readiness to bolster cooperation.
In his meeting with Sklyar, Zhao stressed the need for both sides to consolidate political mutual trust and deepen practical cooperation under the framework of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. Sklyar said that Kazakhstan is willing to strengthen cooperation with China and push bilateral relations forward.
Ironclad friendship with Cambodia stressed
Cai Qi, a senior official of the Communist Party of China, met with Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk in Beijing on Wednesday.
Cai, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, said that no matter how the international situation changes, the Sino-Cambodian friendship has endured through thick and thin and has grown stronger.
Sihamoni and Monineath noted that the ironclad friendship between Cambodia and China was personally forged by the older generation of leaders of the two countries, and remains unwavering and steadfast.
