Pegasus fondant artwork ushers in Year of the Horse in Shanghai

A 4-meter-tall fondant artwork modeled in the shape of Pegasus was unveiled on Friday in Shanghai, blending traditional Chinese culture, conventional craftsmanship, modern commerce and art, and reflecting the city's efforts to become an international cultural metropolis.
The artwork, a white-colored flying horse with two giant wings, is handcrafted using more than 1 ton of fondant to celebrate the upcoming Year of the Horse.
"It follows the techniques of intangible cultural heritage," said creator Zhou Yi, a renowned fondant artist in China known as "sugar king".
It took Zhou and his five-member team nearly four months to create the masterpiece from scratch.
