Tennis legends bringing their Ace cards to Shanghai tournament
A host of tennis legends are set to entertain Shanghai during the Ace the New Year & One-Point-Win Tournament 2026, which will run in the city's Indoor Stadium from Feb 18 to 21. Tickets went on sale on Wednesday for the Spring Festival event through the Juss Sports app, as well as WeChat and Alipay mini-programs.
This year's event, which will feature a legends star match between Feb 20 to 21, features a stellar lineup, including Ashleigh Barty, Australia's tennis queen and three-time Grand Slam champion, who once topped the WTA rankings.
Barty, who will be making her debut in Shanghai, will be joined by Chinese stars Wang Qiang and Li Zhe, Argentina's Juan Martín del Potro and French veteran Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. A number of celebrities will also form teams with the tennis professionals for head-to-head contests.
The ever-popular one-point-win contest, which starts on Feb 18, has attracted 512 amateur tennis players eager to compete for the one million yuan ($143,960) championship prize. The registration channel for this event will open on Jan 30.
Organizers have described the tournament as aligning with Shanghai's integration strategy of culture, sports and tourism, and contributing to Shanghai's bid to build itself into an international sports event capital.
