US lawmakers have pushed a series of Taiwan-related bills to build their own political capital and to win support from the executive branch, according to Xin Qiang, deputy director of the Center for American Studies at Fudan University. Through these measures, Washington has fabricated a so-called "legal basis" to justify its long-term involvement in the Taiwan question.
