Universal Beijing Resort said it will launch its seasonal "Universal's Chinese New Year" event from Jan 23 to March 3, expanding holiday-themed entertainment, decor and merchandise across the park, hotels and CityWalk as it targets strong Lunar New Year traffic.

The event will feature an updated "Universal's Re-U-Nian Show" at the amphitheater with new choreography, music and storyline, bringing together 14 branded characters, including Po from DreamWorks' Kung Fu Panda, King Julien from Madagascar, and Illumination's Minions. The 20-minute performance will integrate traditional Chinese elements such as Peking Opera female warriors, Sichuan Opera face-changing, and acrobatic drummers on a Chinese-style set.

Park-wide festive decorations will include lanterns, auspicious cloud motifs, and an upgraded Golden Wintersweet Tree of Blessings at the end of Hollywood Boulevard, adding a synchronized "Light Symphony" with enhanced lighting effects and original music. Characters, including Shrek and Fiona, Woody and Winnie Woodpecker, and Puss in Boots, and Kitty Softpaws, will appear in Lunar New Year outfits for meet-and-greet sessions.

Minion Land will roll out Year-of-the-Horse–themed overlays, with Gru's house dressed in "Fu" calligraphy, firecrackers, and banana motifs. Minions will wear special seasonal costumes and host interactive greetings.

Food and beverage offerings at Universal's Chinese New Year Square will span regional snacks, such as boiled beef with rice noodles, shredded pork jianbing, candied hawthorn, mung bean cake, and traditional sugar figures, alongside Western-style pastries decorated with "Fu" characters and firecracker designs.

Sunset Grill and Hammond's will serve Chinese New Year's Eve dinners blending Chinese and Western dishes for family gatherings, while The Universal Studios Grand Hotel's Lotus Garden will host character greetings with Minions and the Gru family in festive attire. NUO Resort Hotel's JIA will offer Family Reunion set menus for the Year of the Horse, and multiple CityWalk restaurants will introduce seasonal dishes.

Universal said the season will be accompanied by online and offline activities, including digital red packet draws, a "Five Blessings" collection campaign and Annual Passholder Appreciation Days. The resort will also roll out Chinese New Year ticket products. Guests can find details on the Universal Beijing Resort app and official accounts on WeChat, Weibo, Red, and Douyin.

The resort framed the program under its "No Boundaries, Infinite Universe" theme, encouraging guests to explore varied ways of celebrating the Lunar New Year across lands, including Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness, Transformers Metrobase, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, with options such as family ride challenges and holiday face painting.
