At 6 am (Beijing time) on Dec 7, an AVATR 012 luxury sedan, manufactured in Chongqing, was gently lowered onto the Antarctic ice sheet from the polar research vessel  Xuelong, marking the beginning of its polar testing mission at the Antarctic Central Station. It is the world's first NEV to set foot on the frozen continent. [Photo provided to chinadaily.com.cn]

The mission aligns with the Green Expedition Initiative, an effort launched in 2017 during the 40th Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting. Spearheaded by China in partnership with Australia, Chile, France, and other countries, the initiative aims to enhance scientific research and environmental preservation in Antarctica.
