Robert Sparrow: AI companions are no solution to social isolation

At the 2025 Beijing Forum co-sponsored by Peking University, Professor Robert Sparrow, from the Department of Philosophy at Monash University, Australia, stated that AI companions are not a solution to social isolation because they do not really care about and even manipulate users. He encouraged people to build more connections with real individuals to realize a more satisfying life.
