Father and son duo boost public welfare through innovation
Alex's journey of philanthropy began after a flood disaster Hubei province in 1998. Albert Yeung took his young son Alex to the disaster area to take part in relief efforts. Today, the pair often return to Chaozhou together to upgrade the equipment at Laiyi Primary School and visit its teachers and students.
"The inheritance of charity is the continuation of values, and it is also about the younger generation carrying on the legacy of the older generation," Albert Yeung said with satisfaction.
Albert Yeung believes that the responsibility of entrepreneurs extends beyond donating money — it involves using resources to create sustainable value.
The seven listed companies under Emperor Group each leverage their strengths to boost this effort. For example, they use movies as a medium to conduct charity movie screenings, enriching the spiritual lives of the public with mainstream and educational films.
In Alex Yeung's view, the long-term development of public welfare cannot be separated from the construction of a "sustainable value chain", so he has promoted a deep integration of "public welfare + business".
Emperor Properties has collaborated with China Resources Power to develop renewable energy, integrating the concept of environmental protection into business operations. Artists from Emperor Entertainment have participated in movies that focus on vulnerable groups and have set up public welfare segments in variety shows, using their influence to inspire more people to engage in public welfare.
Alex Yeung has also achieved fruitful results in bridging young people from Hong Kong and Macao with those in the Chinese mainland.
"We need to build a long-term, stable exchange network to help young people integrate into the national development picture," he said.
From Albert Yeung's "perseverance" to Alex Yeung's "innovation," the philanthropic map of Emperor Group continues to expand in the hands of two generations.
In the future, they will continue to focus on elderly services and youth development, exploring new ways to combine public welfare with business, allowing this charitable spirit to shine even brighter in the new era.
