German-born industrial designer Dieter Rams is committed to the principle that to live better, one should live a minimalistic existence. His creations remind people of how to live a meaningful and responsible life without possessing too many material items or creating excessive waste.

Rams, 93, and his principles of good, simple designs remain valuable to designers and design students, which are on display in an exhibition of his career at the Red-River Culture Art Museum on the Liangxiang campus of the Beijing Institute of Technology.

The exhibition Less, but Better displays over 100 designs, manuscripts, photos and documents that explore Rams' iconic works, walking people through his imagination and creativity. Visitors learn how he put into practice a belief in making sustainable, functional and serene designs to produce masterful works of timeless beauty.

The exhibition is on its second leg of its Asian tour at the Beijing Institute of Technology until Nov 30.
