Vice-premier stresses importance of ties with Uruguay
Vice-Premier Ding Xuexiang held separate meetings with Uruguayan President Yamandu Orsi and Vice-President Carolina Cosse on Tuesday during a visit to the South American country.
During his meeting with Orsi, Ding called on the two countries to consolidate political mutual trust, promote friendly exchanges, upgrade pragmatic collaboration, and deepen people-to-people and cultural exchanges.
Ding and Orsi also jointly witnessed the signing of cooperative documents.
While talking with Cosse, Ding expressed China's willingness to import more high-quality agricultural and animal husbandry products from Uruguay that meet market demands, while encouraging more Chinese-funded institutions to invest in Uruguay.
Vice-president presents proposal for advancing global social development
Vice-President Han Zheng on Tuesday put forward a four-pronged proposal for promoting social development around the world.
Speaking at the general debate of the ongoing Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, Qatar, he noted that back in March 1995, the First World Summit for Social Development was successfully held in Copenhagen, Denmark, and the participating parties adopted the Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development and the Program of Action.
