China's FM Wang Yi welcomes new African Union ambassador
Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday met with the newly appointed African Union Ambassador to China Alhaji Mohamed Sarjoh Bah in Beijing, accepting his credentials and welcoming him to his new post.
Wang emphasized that strengthening solidarity and cooperation with Africa remains a key priority of China's foreign policy.
He said China is willing to work with the African side to fully implement the outcomes of the 2024 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the zero-tariff treatment to cover 100 percent of tariff lines for all 53 African countries that have diplomatic ties with it, jointly promoting the modernization process.
Wang also expressed hope that AU's representative mission in Beijing would continue to play an active role in advancing overall China-Africa cooperation.
Bah recognized the AU's recognition of and support for China's vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity and its series major initiatives, pledging that AU's representative mission in Beijing will make every effort to contribute to relations between Africa and China.
