Xiong'an's new port facility boosts foreign trade

Xiong'an New Area in Hebei province has recently opened a land port supervision facility, marking a major step in establishing its port functions, local authorities announced.

The newly approved facility, located in Xiong'an's comprehensive bonded zone, covers 8,500 square meters, according to a report by Hebei Daily on Monday. It integrates cargo inspection, container storage, and loading operations services.

With this facility, companies with foreign trade in Xiong'an can now complete customs declaration and inspection procedures locally. Approved goods can then be shipped directly to Tianjin Port for export, cutting the transit time to the port to just four hours, the report said.

"This is a major benefit for businesses, enabling us to conduct cross-border trade at lower cost and higher efficiency," said Lin Kun, general manager of a local logistics company for international cargo transportation.

The facility is part of Xiong'an's broader strategy to build an international port. Officials plan to create a "1+3+N" system — one port platform, three transport channels (sea, air, and rail), and multiple smart applications.

"We will continue to optimize customs clearance models and promote intelligent and streamlined operations to help Xiong'an achieve a higher-quality development of its export-oriented economy," Guo Xiaoxia, an official with Xiong'an Customs, was quoted as saying in the report.
