At the 7th International Sinologists Conference on Translating Chinese Literature, which opened in Nanjing, East China's Jiangsu province, on Monday, 39 sinologists from 31 countries shared their views with Chinese writers. Among them, 15 were honored as "friends of Chinese literature" for their efforts in bringing Chinese literature to global audiences through translation.

Mexican translator Liljana Arsovska said it was not only an honor, but also a responsibility to be recognized as a "Friend of Chinese Literature". Through her translations of realist literature into Spanish, Arsovska seeks to offer Latin American readers a window into contemporary Chinese society.

She noted that literature can serve as a bridge for mutual understanding and cultural exchange as Latin America is far from China. Touching on the vast richness of Chinese literature, she joked that it might take her "a thousand years" to translate all the works she admires.
