"Previously, I worked as a farmer in our village, earning only a few thousand yuan a year," Gubi said. "Life was hard for my family since everything was inconvenient, from going to the market and seeing a doctor to sending children to school."

"Now we earn much more money and live in such beautiful apartments," she added. "It's quite convenient for my kids to go to school. I'm really happy."

Jike Muguo, 33, another former resident of the village, opened a convenience store in his community that earns him between 3,000 and 4,000 yuan per month.

He displays the village's splendid views during his live streams, in which he sells local specialties, including walnuts, apples, and pomegranates.

Jike has 436,000 followers on Douyin (the Chinese version of TikTok), with an annual live-streaming income of about 50,000 yuan.

"In the past, I could only work outside to make money and was unable to take care of my elderly family members when they were sick," he said. "Now I can earn a decent income right at home, and I'm very satisfied."
