The Quintet of Liangzhu Civilization, an animated short video series created by the Central Academy of Fine Arts, was released on Monday as a celebration of the annual "Liangzhu Day" on July 6.

The series consists of five episodes titled Pottery, Jade, Stone, Agriculture and Fire, each exploring a core element of Liangzhu culture (3300-2300 BC). These episodes utilize five distinct artistic styles—watercolor, colored pencil, printmaking, ink wash, and paper-cutting—to bring Liangzhu's 5,000-year-old civilization to life.

The series digs deep into the profound cultural legacy of Liangzhu, using detailed historical research to vividly depict the remarkable achievements of the Liangzhu civilization.

Using AI technology in pre-production, the series captures the essence of Liangzhu culture through detailed character and scene designs. Hand-drawn with precise brushwork, it blends traditional Chinese design elements, from headpieces to architecture, reflecting Liangzhu's unique charm. Each episode adopts a distinct artistic style, aligning with its theme and integrates several techniques to revitalize these ancient stories.

The series was co-produced by the China Center for International Communication Development and the Liangzhu site management committee.
