The 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions, also known as the Summer Davos, opened on Tuesday in Tianjin, drawing around 1,800 participants from across the globe, the highest attendance in recent years.

Held under the theme "Entrepreneurship for a New Era", the World Economic Forum event aims to showcase China's high-quality economic growth, commitment to openness, and global development opportunities, according to the forum's Preparatory Committee.

The strong turnout highlights the forum's influence and the appeal of China's vast market, said Chen Shuai, deputy director of the Department of International Cooperation at the National Development and Reform Commission.

This year's Summer Davos will feature nearly 200 sub-forum activities.

Domestic and international participants will share their views, propose solutions, and offer advice for global economic development in sub-forums focusing on five themes, namely interpreting the global economy, China's outlook, industries in transformation, investing in people and the planet, and new energy and materials.

"Tianjin offers a unique blend of tradition and innovation," said Li Wenhai, the city's deputy mayor. "We've curated six themed routes to showcase technology, culture, and tourism, along with traditional crafts, performances, and local cuisine."

This is the eighth time that Tianjin has hosted the event since 2007.

"Davos has been hosted in Tianjin for many years, enhancing the city's image while bringing numerous changes," said Li Jiayi, deputy director of the Preparatory Committee.

"This year, in addition to the main forum, we have organized many parallel forums, inviting more private entrepreneurs to discuss new global development issues and cutting-edge ideas," he added.

"Davos has introduced more innovative resources and high-level talent to Tianjin. Domestic and international research institutions have established R&D centers in Tianjin, bringing investment and technology," said Jiang Richeng, chief physician at Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital.
