GCL Energy Technology (GCL ET) and Ant Digital Technologies jointly announced the establishment of Ant Smart Energy Technology Co Ltd on Thursday during the SNEC International Photovoltaic Power Generation Conference in Shanghai.

The new company will build an "AI-driven next-generation new energy ecosystem" by integrating AntDT's expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain with GCL ET's strengths in energy project development, construction, and operations.

Ant Smart Energy Technology Co Ltd will target the trillion-yuan energy AI market, leveraging industry data and large-scale AI models to enable intelligent operations across power business scenarios—from plant maintenance and electricity trading to virtual power plants. It will also explore innovations such as energy Real-World Assets (RWA) and establish an open Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) platform.

Prior collaborations include a strategic agreement signed in December 2024, under which the partners completed China's first RWA project for photovoltaic green assets. In March 2025, they released a photovoltaic use case for EnergyTS, an energy time-series AI model, boosting operational efficiency in power resource development.

"This partnership exemplifies the synergy between digital and energy industries. It represents GCL ET's strategic commitment to AI and an active reshaping of future energy systems," said Zhu Yufeng, chairman of GCL ET and president of parent GCL Group.

"Ant Smart Energy will be a core growth engine for our new era."

Bian Zhuoqun, vice-president of Ant Group and president of Blockchain Business at Ant Digital Technologies, said the venture marks a critical step in empowering energy with cutting-edge technologies.

"We will collaborate to build an intelligent energy service system supporting carbon neutrality and sustainable development," said Bian.
