CAIRO/ULAN BATOR/KUWAIT CITY/NAIROBI — A concert was held on Tuesday in Cairo to mark the first United Nations International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations.

The event, titled "Conversation and Connection: Music Connects the World", brought together more than 200 guests from Egypt and China and featured traditional folk music and other performances from both countries.

Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Liao Liqiang said China and Egypt, both ancient civilizations with rich histories, jointly advocate respecting the diversity of civilizations and promoting the common values of humanity.

Al-Tayeb Abbas, CEO of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, where the event was held, said the concert symbolized the coming together of two ancient civilizations.

In Mongolia's capital Ulan Bator, an event marking the UN day for dialogue was held at the Chinese Cultural Center on Tuesday.

The event aimed at building a bridge of good neighborliness and friendship between China and Mongolia through music and promoting in-depth exchanges and cooperation in culture and education.

Fifteen performers from Mongolia took part in the event. Participants demonstrated their Chinese language skills and talents by singing Chinese songs.

"When the contestants sang Chinese songs in the Chinese language, every word was a fusion of culture, and every melody was a seed of friendship," said Li Zhi, counselor of the Chinese embassy in Mongolia and director of the Chinese Cultural Center in Ulan Bator.

In Kuwait, a cultural event was held on Monday at the Chinese Cultural Center to mark the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations.

On June 5, the UN dialogue day was observed in the Kenyan capital Nairobi with a call to foster bridges of friendship and understanding among people of different cultures.

The UN General Assembly adopted a China-sponsored resolution in June last year to designate June 10 as the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations. Endorsed by consensus, the resolution underscores the importance of respecting civilizational diversity and the crucial role of dialogue in promoting global peace and inclusive development.
