10th batch of China's 20th-century architectural heritage announced

Shan Jixian, former curator of the Palace Museum and director of the expert committee of the Chinese Cultural Relics Society, delivered a keynote speech on the contemporary and future value of 20th-century architectural heritage by citing international and domestic examples. He emphasized that the interpretation and theory construction of 20th-century architectural heritage in China are essential.
During the event, the committee kicked off the compilation of Introduction to 20th Century Architectural Heritage, a textbook that aims to fill the gap in the area's education. The book will be compiled together with the North China University of Technology in Beijing and China Architecture & Building Press.
The committee also unveiled a manual demonstrating outstanding engineering cases of repurposing architectural heritage sites. The guidebook, a three-year joint effort of the committee and China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Group, Co., Ltd, highlights the engineering industry's achievements in heritage preservation, urban renewal and cultural inheritance.
