RCEP members can fill vacuum made by US' retreat from leadership in global trade governance

"The US may represent 13 percent of global imports, but its retreat from leadership in global trade governance actually creates a vacuum," said Yose Rizal Damuri, director of Centre for Strategic and International Studies, Indonesia, at the 2025 RCEP Media & Think Tank Forum on May 25. He stated that RCEP members can and must fill this space for investing in rules-based integration that serves collective interest.
